In mid 2005, we were awarded national distribution contract for a retail group of companies. The investment was made on 59 rigid box van equipped with tail lift and track & trace systems. The new operational sites recruited 170 employees in the main were drivers and van boys. The site supervision manages its own dedicated fleet as well as its subcontractor fleet of approximate 50 trucks supporting daily volume and seasonal peaks. The 365 days per year round the clock operations provides deliveries to an excess of 200 outlets across the country with an incorporation of backhaul services generating cost benefit to this transport operations.

For this same group, once a year a special project goes through its implementation for hampers (new year basket or NYB) delivery. The physical distribution would only be over a short but very busy 3 months spell. There, a temporary transport team is bought in to manages a fleet of 70 pick up (utility) trucks delivering into Greater Bangkok stores and its customers’ facilities. Prime mover and semi-trailers bought in to provide shuttle service moving finish goods and raw material between production line and distribution warehouse.
